Africa Can Make 'Smartphone' and Tablets

Country of origin did not want to miss the African continent in the business technology industry. Not long ago, a startup company Congo origin, VMK, has just launched a tablet device and a smartphone-based design their own mobile operating system Android.

The mobile device is called as a result of the company's first draft of Africa, although the assembly is still being done in China.

Of the company's tablet device will be called the "Way-C" which means "starlight" in the local language Lingala. Meanwhile, smartphones, named "Elikia", which means "hope".

Way-C will be armed with a 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, WiFi, and 4GB of internal storage capacity. To support operations, the device is equipped with a tablet of 4.200 mAh battery.

The operating system used is Android tablet 2.3.3 Gingerbread. Later, Way-C will be marketed at a price of around 300 U.S. dollars, or approximately USD 2.8 million.
For smartphone specs "Elikia", 3.5 inch screen, 650MHz processor, 512MB RAM, 123MB internal storage capacity, WiFi, 1.300 mAh battery, and Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread.

Elikia Mobile will be priced at 170 dollars, or about USD 1.6 million.

The specifications of these devices is not too high, when compared to other devices on the market globally. However, the company's founder VMK, Verone Mankou, find the specifications are in accordance with the needs of the African people.

"Only Africans who understand what is required of Africans. Apple in the U.S., Samsung's huge in Asia, and we would like VMK success in Africa, "said Mankou, as quoted from Ubergizmo, Friday (12/28/2012).
