The smoke inhaled by passive smokers pose a disadvantage. Passive smokers are exposed to secondhand smoke for 20 minutes in a closed room, like a bar or a car, will immediately experience respiratory distress.
Enclosed spaces such as bars have fine particle concentrations are very high because of the visitors are permitted. "People who are non-smokers then had to inhale the particles in an extreme amount of it and go straight to the lungs," said Dr.Panagiotis Behrakis of the University of Athens, Greece.
Behrakis make observations regarding the short-term effects of exposure to secondhand smoke on nonsmokers. He included 15 healthy people who are exposed to high concentrations of smoke are made as closely as possible to cigarette smoke for 20 minutes.
During the exposure, the researchers tested the resistance level perpanasan. Apparently the effects of cigarette smoke exposure is rapid and significant. The results were presented at the meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians.
The results of a long study adds evidence of the impact of cigarette smoke exposure, not only to smokers themselves but also those around them. The majority of lung cancer patients also was not a smoker but generally live near the smoker.
