Use LED TV, Is More Energy Efficient?

Jumat, 28 Desember 2012 ·

One of the jargon that is always carried by TV producers who use screen LED (light emitting diode) is a matter of saving energy. Claimed, LED TV is the most efficient type of television than any other television currently available, ranging tube TVs, plasma, or LCD (liquid crystal display). Is this true?

Seen from the perspective of technology, according to experts from the electronics Electronics and Telecommunication Research Center Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) Masyuri, LED TV technology is much more efficient. "Power savings can be very significant," he said.

When compared with the TV tube, the LED can save power up to 50 percent. Meanwhile, when compared with LCD TV, LED TV could save 20-30 percent power. That was caused LED TVs using LED lighting from lower energy consumption.

However, Masyuri said that the energy consumption of LED TVs can not be compared absolutely. Growing trend in communities around the TV size selection also needs to be seen. Now, when people buy a LED TV, they did buy a large.

"Now, see if you buy a 42-inch LED TV, it's almost the same energy consumption ukurang 14 inch tube TV, maybe even more. So, LED TVs can only change the trend in the search for television," he continued.

In addition, the price of LED TV is still more expensive than other types of televisions. However, it will pay off with a more brilliant image quality. With LED, detailed images can be better than other types of televisions.

Masyuri stressed that the most important thing in choosing a television is to look at the information contained in the television packaging, primarily a matter of power. Masyuri also stressed the need to use television effectively, for example by turning it off when not watched.
